A SHORT HISTORY LESSON:
Mataró 1920s

From 1920 up to today, 2020, the busy Santa Marta street, in the heart of Mataró’s downtown, has haused ZD’s manufacturing headquarters, in the exact the same spot where it opened its doors at the beginning of the last century.

Nowadays, an artisanal factory like ZD’s is a rare case in the fashion industry: away from industrial centers and with local workers who often come from families that have worked there for generations.

THE BEGINNING
The first tissues

Under the brand name of Caracol, we started designing underwear for gentlemen, following the fashion trends of the time. Now our current catalog includes more than 1000 entries and incorporates a large range sizes and colors.

During the 70s, thanks to an investment in research, we launched the elastic cotton pioneering in Spain.

In the 80s, ZD reached its peak and consolidation of ZD ZERO DEFECTS brand. And in 1992, the new line of athletic garments increased its total gross sales value to a higher level.

SOYA FIBER
New female line

In 2011 we incorporate soya fiber into underwear. ZD is the only Spanish manufacturer with soya fiber apparels, a scarce and difficult material to weave, but with unique properties: extremely skin-friendly with antibacterial function, with a silky and soft feel to it, and an outstanding moisture absorption and permeability performance.

Soya fiber is an organic fabric ideal for sensitive or atopy-prone skins and helps preventing allergic reactions.

In 2012, seeing the spectacular properties of the fabric, we decided to launch the feminine line.

ZD GOES INTERNATIONAL

In 2015, ZD opened up towards a more international market. Praised by its trajectory and artisan tradition, Europe welcomed ZD’s undergarments’ quality and finishing touches.

After a century of accumulated knowledge and looking towards the future, we continue developing new fabrics responding to contemporary demands.

HANDMADE
Crafs and tradition

Our proposal is the antithesis to excessive industrialized fashion, we respond to the “slow-fashion” model to make an increasingly personalized product with high added value for its design, “100% made in Spain”, and eco-friendly design.

We emphasize the artisanal and manual production of durable, timeless products, high-end garments versus industrialized products.
